Silmu Aava

Savonranta · Lake Saimaa

Adventure and stillness by the open water.

A four-season lake-adventure resort — six log cottages, saunas, kayaks and forest trails, at the former Lekotti in Finnish Saimaa.

The idea

A bud on the open water.

Silmu means a bud — the first, hopeful sign of new growth. Aava is the vast open water, the wide reach of a Finnish lake meeting the sky.

Today it is a place with two tempos. Paddle out at dusk, ride the forest trails, or climb through the pines — then let the sauna and the still water slow everything back down. Adventure and stillness, side by side.

All year

Four seasons, one lake

Spring

Ice gives way to open water. Trails soften; the first paddlers appear.

Summer

Kayaks, bikes and the adventure park. Long light, warm saunas, late swims.

Autumn

Ruska colour on the shore. Still mornings, the sauna boat, quiet water.

Winter

Floodlit slopes, cross-country tracks, sledding and first ice on the lake.
